A photo from my beloved Ivory Coast, taken by the famous "The World Seen From Above" photographer Yann Arthus Bertrand. This is a tree that has been struck by lightning, fallen down and then has burnt, leaving an amazing pattern on the ground. For those not informed - I grew up in Ivory Coast, because my parents were missionaries there. Between the ages of 2,5 and 16 I lived in Ivory Coast for 10,5 years altogether, interrupted by two stays in Norway of 1 and 2 years, ages 6-7 and 11-13. A lot of numbers and ages, but those are the basics. Ivory Coast is a beautiful country in West Africa, currently sadly troubled by a civil war that has lasted for some 4-5 years now. I was fortunate enough never to experience the war, we'd gone back to Norway for good in 1998, when the country was still peaceful; one of the most prosperous and successful in the whole region ever since independence.
